Teaching

Dr. Bem has been teaching piano since 1987. She is active in the Denton Music Teachers Association, Texas Music Teachers Association, and Music Teachers National Association. Her main emphasis is on piano performance and music theory. Dr. Bem encourages her students to participate in Student Affiliate events such as the TMTA theory test and other festivals. Dr. Bem specializes in classical music and can teach a wide range of musical styles including popular, blues, jazz, and church music. She teaches music theory, sight-singing, ear-training, score-reading, and many other subjects.

Accompanying

Dr. Bem has been active as an accompanist for more than twenty years. She has accompanied soloists in numerous recitals, juries, and concerts and has also played for younger students at UIL contests, recitals, and other festivals and competitions.
